The Dandy story started in Kings Lynn in 1830 when William Armes, a Master Mariner, quit his seafaring to start his own business trading in and manufacturing, coir and sisal matting.

In 1960, with the Company headed by now Mervyn Clover, the founder’s great-great-grandson, a woven kitchen rug made from tubular PVC was invented, and called Dandycord.

Dandy not only  manufacture their own products they are also one of the largest importers of door mats, rugs and runners in the UK

We have a brand new selection of floor mats in the showroom from Dandy. We have stocked their Dandy wash-a-mats for a long time and they are very popular. Their new range includes a great choice of kitchen and laundry room runners, washable mats, scrapper rugs and doormats in lots of colours and styles.

The earliest known flooring is the humble rug. Indeed, an example still exists which dates from 8,000 BC.

Today the beauty of rugs has been rediscovered. Whether traditional hand knotted, hand-tufted or the modern machine made variety, a rug will set off any interior. The growing interest in wood, marble and terracotta is creating a new demand for rugs.

Here at The Old Mill we have a huge collection of rugs. Man made or pure wool, traditional or contemporary,  plain or patterned, tight pile or luxurious long pile you’ll definitely be able to find the rug you’ve been looking for at exactly the right price too. If it’s not in stock don’t forget we can order it for you.

We stock well known brands such as Kathy Ireland Home, Calvin Klein, Nourison and Mastercraft; if we don’t have what you want in stock then we can order it for you. And you’ll also find a wonderful choice of children’s rugs.

Looking for a space-saving bed with storage to put in a smaller bedroom?

If the idea of a pull-down bed conjures up images of cramped bedsits, or if a bed with drawers makes you think of tired student divans, it’s time to rethink your preconceptions. Today’s clever bed designs manage to combine style and practicality with aplomb. There are now many multi-functional designs and canny under-bed storage solutions to help you make the most of your space.

Your bed is likely to be the most prominent piece of furniture in your bedroom, so choose a bed type that fits with the style and size of the room.

Make sure to measure your space then decide how large or small a bed you’d like – or can fit – in your bedroom.

Measure your bedroom if you’re moving into a new home, allowing ample space at either side of where the bed will fit to accommodate bedside tables or other furniture.

We carry a great range of space saving beds from Silent Night, Rest Assured, Burgess Beds and Sealy. You can choose from four options; two drawers, four drawers, four drawer continental (2 large and 2 half size drawers) and ottoman beds.

For beautifully made bedroom furniture, look no further than The Old Mill. We have over 30 different collections for you to choose from so you’re bound to find your perfect dream bedroom.

The bedroom is the one room in the house where you can be truly indulgent…it is your own space to relax and enjoy.

Furnishing and decorating your bedroom is without doubt one of the most personal forms of expression that you can undertake in your home. It’s is all about your own personal taste and discovering your particular individual style – therefore, it is almost impossible to offer a hard and fast set of rules.

What is important is that your bedroom reflects you and your personality that’s why we have made sure we have plenty of choice both in style and price.

Think about what you want from the bedroom – is it a cool, calm space or a more dynamic and sumptuous room? Once you know what type of environment you would like to create, you can then choose the right style for you.

Accessories are a wonderfully easy way of bringing colour and pattern into a space and can be changed seasonally to reflect the seasons. For the final touch perhaps add a silk quilt or wool throw in the cooler months and colourful cushions in the spring.

Pop in and have a look at our bedroom collections from Kingstown, Corndell’s Annecy Range, Willis & Gambier’s Malvern Range, SJ units and Welcome.

You already know a peaceful home is a happy home. While that likely means choosing your furniture, lighting and home fabrics based on their comfort quotient, there’s one thing that’s easy to overlook — soundproofing.

Nothing zaps your zen quite as quickly as the sound of noisy neighbors above you, or honking cars outside. But we know what you’re thinking: soundproofing equipment is pretty ugly — remember those foam pads that covered the walls of your music room at school? There are, however, plenty of home decor choices you can make to help absorb excess noise, and they don’t necessarily mean skimping on style.
